The CAPAL Awards Committee is delighted to announce the opening of applications for our 2026 Student Research Paper Award. This annual award, which includes a $500 prize and a one-year CAPAL membership, is designed to recognize and encourage research excellence among students completing a Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) or equivalent degree.
If you are an MLIS student and you have recently written an unpublished paper that demonstrates original academic research relevant to academic libraries or librarianship, we welcome your submission. You do not need to be a current CAPAL member to apply.
This award is open to both individual and group submissions, with the prize money split among winners.
Application deadline: April 20, 2026

Nomination packages should include:
- A copy of the paper being submitted
- Proof of enrollment in a Canadian MLIS or equivalent program.
- A reflective statement or audio/video recording (up to 500 words or 3-5 minutes) commenting on the context in which the paper was written, what was learned during the research process, and the potential for future publication.
Award winners may be invited to present their research at the annual CAPAL conference and/or submit their paper to the Canadian Journal of Academic Librarianship (CJAL).

Le Comité de remise des prix de l’ACBES est ravi d’annoncer le lancement du Prix du travail de recherche étudiant 2026. Le prix annuel, qui comprend une bourse de 500 $ et une adhésion d’un an à l’ACBES, est conçu pour encourager la recherche universitaire originale en bibliothéconomie et sciences de l’information.
Si vous êtes étudiant·e de maîtrise en bibliothéconomie et sciences de l’information et que vous avez récemment rédigé un travail non publié qui démontre une recherche académique originale et pertinente pour les bibliothèques universitaires ou la bibliothéconomie académique, nous vous encourageons à pose votre candidature. Il n’est pas nécessaire d’être membre de l’ACBES pour postuler.
Date limite de soumission : 20 avril 2026

Les dossiers de candidature doivent inclure :
- Une copie du travail de recherche soumis pour le prix
- Une preuve d’inscription à une maîtrise en bibliothéconomie ou programme équivalent au Canada
- Une déclaration réflexive ou un enregistrement audio/vidéo d’un maximum de 500 mots (3-5 minutes) commentant le contexte dans lequel le travail a été rédigé, ce qui a été appris au cours du processus de recherche et le potentiel de la recherche pour une publication future.
Les lauréat·e·s peuvent être invité·e·s à présenter leur recherche à la conférence annuelle de l’ACBES et/ou à soumettre un manuscrit à la Revue canadienne de bibliothéconomie universitaire (Rcbu).
