Volunteer for CAPAL 17!

Another great CAPAL conference has come to a close. Such a conference happens only through the efforts of volunteers. So as we reflect on what we learned at CAPAL16, it is already time to start the work of organizing and planning CAPAL17!

As with past conferences, CAPAL17 will be held in conjunction with the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences hosted by Ryerson University in Toronto, 2017 May 27-June 2. The Congress 2017 theme is “The Next 150” in recognition of Canada’s 150th Anniversary.

The Board of CAPAL/ACBAP is seeking volunteers for the following positions on the Conference Organizing Committee (COC). Each position is an opportunity to gain great experience!

Note: The application deadline for volunteers has been extended to Friday July 8, 2016

· Conference Manager
· Program Chair
· Local Arrangements Coordinator
· Budget Officer
· Communications Coordinator

NOTE: In addition, we will be looking for volunteers to serve on the Program Planning sub-committee.

Details regarding the responsibilities for each of these Conference Organizing positions are outlined in the Guidelines for the Selection of Conference Organizers for the Annual Conference.

Please do consider volunteering for CAPAL17 in some capacity!

Deadline for applications is Friday, July 8, 2016. An orientation to the conference process (based on past lessons!) will be organized with conference organizers to take place sometime in July or August to allow for a September 1 launch to the organization of the conference.

Expressions of interest should be submitted to the following email address: capalibrarians@gmail.com by Friday July 8. Such expressions of interest should highlight past experiences that address the selection criteria for the position of interest. Those interested in serving CAPAL/ACBAP as Program Chair, should also include some ideas for CAPAL17 conference themes that speak to the Congress 2017 theme of “The Next 150”.

If you have questions, don’t hesitate to write and ask!

Leona Jacobs, Chair
CAPAL/ACBAP Board
