OK, I’m going to be a pain in your side.
Holding a face-to-face meeting in Toronto as a way to start a new *national* organization just seems so 10 mins. ago. There are so many online collaborative tools and services that could be enabled to facilitate a truly national dialogue and level of engagement.
If we are trying to advocate for a 21st century profession shouldn’t we use 21st century technology and be a 21st century organization?

Thank you Mike for your support and earlier message. We are quickly becoming a growing membership, so it will be difficult to fully engage those who want to speak, ask questions and simply put ‘faces’ and ‘personalities’ to names. Moreover, some folks will already be in town for the OLA conference (not all granted), but it is a start. Why waste an opportunity to meet and speak, person-to-person? We will have ample opportunity to use technology as we break into groups and committees. Much work lies ahead. Happy Holidays! Harriet.

I would have to agree with Mike. You could stream the proceedings with chat so those who can’t attend in person can participate to some measure. Best to start the association off on a solid footing.

I think there are many of us who are interested in what CAPAL has to say, but I can’t help but comment on the unfortunate timing of the membership meeting, which is in direct conflict with the OCULA annual general meeting. It seems a bit troubling to choose the one time for the meeting that would be absolutely certain to cause potential problems for CAPAL’s target audience.
