Around the Watercooler Discussion on Choosing Research Projects

May 13 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Invitation to Around the Watercooler discussion on choosing research projects

Join us on May 13th from 1-2 pm ET for the next CAPAL Around the Watercooler chat, open to all CAPAL members.

This month’s session is a chance to talk about how we actually choose research projects in our day-to-day work. With limited time and shifting expectations, how do you decide what’s worth taking on? What makes something feel manageable (or not)?

We’ll also explore how people balance different motivations, curiosity, local usefulness, collaboration opportunities, and career considerations. Do your projects tend to grow out of your role, or from interests beyond it? Has that changed over time?

The goal for this session is to share approaches, ideas, and strategies that have worked in practice. What have you found helpful in terms of moving projects forward or making research feel more doable?

The “Around the Watercooler” series is an opportunity for librarians across Canada to connect and chat about areas of their work. No preparation is required before coming to the sessions, and no RSVP is required.

CAPAL/ACBES is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
