The Canadian Association of Professional Academic Librarians (CAPAL/ACBES) is seeking a second webmaster to work in tandem with the current webmaster.
As webmaster, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing CAPAL/ACBES’s online presence, ensuring that our websites, membership tools, and communications platforms remain effective, secure, and user-friendly.
Webmaster Duties:
The webmaster maintains CAPAL’s websites which contain important documents and communications of our organization. This includes:
- working with the Communications Committee and others to update the content on our WordPress site
- working with the Conference Committee to support the conference website. This may include archiving materials from previous conferences
- making regular updates to WordPress and its themes and components to ensure that the site is safe and effective
- ensuring the websites meet WCAG 2.0 guidelines
- contributing to the development and maintenance of the Google Workspace collaboration platform and integration of various Google Apps
- maintaining our email lists (listserv, MailerLite, Mailchimp, and Wild Apricot) and working with those who need to use them, primarily the Communications and Membership Committees
- maintaining the site domains through our ISP (currently Canadian Web Hosting)
- maintaining the membership website and member registration pages using the member management service, such as Wild Apricot
- providing technical support for file management and user accounts including the Sync cloud storage site
The webmaster attends meetings of the Board and relevant committees (Membership, Communications and Conference) as needed.
Required:
- Experience developing and/or managing a website
- Ability to provide technical support especially as it pertains to website maintenance and member management platforms
- Experience with at least one of the following: HTML, XML, WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, or other programming languages
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve website issues
- Familiarity with meeting web content accessibility guidelines, including WCAG 2.0
